Or Drive In

Plenty of people would rather hand it across a counter and watch it tested, which is a perfectly good reason to come. Rough guide by distance from Chamblee:

• Inside about 30 miles — metro Atlanta. Dunwoody, Brookhaven, Sandy Springs, Buckhead, Decatur, Duluth, Roswell, Marietta, East Cobb, Alpharetta and Johns Creek. An easy trip; most people do it on a lunch break.
• Roughly 40 to 75 miles — North Georgia. Gainesville, Athens, Rome, Cartersville, Newnan, Covington. Comfortably a morning, and worth it for a collection you would rather not put in a box.
• 90 miles and beyond. Macon, Columbus, Augusta, Savannah, and across the line toward Chattanooga. Shipping usually makes more sense here — but if you would rather come, call ahead and we will have a specialist waiting rather than have you drive two hours into a queue.

Which One Should You Pick?

• Ship if you are more than an hour or two out, if the lot is small enough to box comfortably, or if getting to Atlanta on a weekday between 10 and 4 is the hard part.
• Drive if you have an estate or a large collection, if there is collectible material that should be looked at piece by piece, or if you simply want to watch the spectrometer reading yourself. Neither one gets you a better price — the metal is priced the same way either way.

Before You Ship or Drive

• Do not clean anything. Polishing silver or scrubbing coins destroys collector value that cannot be put back.
• Do not sort or separate. Sorting is part of the job, not a favour you need to do first.
• Get a rough number. Run the scrap calculator for jewelry, flatware and dental, or the buyback calculator for coins and bars. Both price off live spot.
• Bring photo ID if you are driving in. Georgia law requires dealers to record identification on precious metals purchases.

Yes. Sellers come to our Chamblee counter from across Georgia, and those further out ship instead on a prepaid insured label. Where you live does not change how your metal is priced.

Can I drive in from Macon, Augusta or Chattanooga?

You can, and people do. At that distance shipping usually makes more sense, but if you would rather come in person, call 404.815.8893 first so a specialist is set aside for you rather than driving two hours into a queue.

Do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred — selling a collection moves faster with a specialist set aside for you. If you are travelling any distance, book one.

How quickly will someone get back to me?

Within 24 hours on business days, by phone, text, email or form. We are a small family firm rather than a call center, so a call may go to voicemail when we are at the counter, but a real person returns it.
